Money, Banking, and International Finance.
(4 units)

Executive introduction to the global banking. Overview of dept and equity markets, covering topics such as international money and foreign exchange markets, global bond markets, swaps and derivative securities markets, international bank lending, asset securitization and project finance, global equity issues. Analysis of competition in global advisory and asset management, including global M&A advisory, privatization, institutional asset management and insurance, and private banking. Takes up competitive strategies of global banks, the ways cross-border risk is assessed and managed, and the regulatory framework in which strategies are implemented. Discussion of central banking and bank regulation with special focus on Basle II capital adequacy requirements and the Financial Services Action Plan for creating a single European capital market.
